Weather Updates for the 2021 Tournament

Final Update 5/29 - 2pm

It is with great disappointment that I have to announce the cancellation of this year’s Stars and Strikes Memorial Day Baseball Tournament.  After driving around all morning assessing fields and consulting with Howard County Parks and Rec Leadership, there is no way fields will be open tomorrow and likely Monday.  Also, the forecast for more rain and the 50 degree temps with no sun is not helping us at all.

After COVID-19 forced last year’s tourney cancellation, the hope was to come back this year with a great tournament for the kids and to honor those who gave their lives in service to our country.  Unfortunately, Mother Nature had a different idea in mind.

I’d like to thank everyone who helped with the planning and coordination of a tournament this size over the past 5 months.

Good luck to everyone the rest of this season!!

Thanks,

Mike Parise

Stars and Strikes Tournament Director

Partnerships

You may have noticed that we have increased the size of several age brackets.
That is because of our continuing partnerships with the fine folks at Severn Baseball, AYRA and Western Howard County Renegades and this year we added the HCYP as a new partner.
By adding quality partners, we can add more fields and thus more teams. At the same time, these organizations agree to maintaining the tournament game sites in the same quality fashion that the Stars & Strikes tournament is known for.
We are very pleased to have these organizations as partners.

Partner facilities include: Severn Danza Park, Alpha Ridge Park, River Hill HS, Atholton HS, Oakland Mills HS, Wilde Lake HS, Hammond HS, Mt Hebron HS, Centennial HS, Marriotts Ridge HS and Buckshot Field

Tournament Testimonials

We know you'll enjoy our tournament but don't take our word for it...Look at what Coaches are saying about the tournament:

I just want to thank you and your staff for doing an outstanding job this weekend.  The fields where well manicured before every game and the umps where the best I have had this season.

My team and I had a great experience.  Before my son went to school this morning he told me that was probably the funniest weekend he has had!!  Thanks for providing the experience.

Sincerely,Greg Varda

AYRA Manager

I wanted to drop you a line and let you know how well run I thought your tournament was. Your volunteers at each field were on top of things and your communication was complete and timely.

I also have never seen another tourney offer to pay field and ump fees for people to decide the championship at another date/location. I thought that was a great move. Congrats on a successful tourney and rest well.

Brian Edwards, Savage 13U

I just wanted to say that the Coach and his crew did an amazing job with running the 8U Stars and Strikes Tournament. This tournament is fun, well managed and the volunteers are extremely professional. The brackets and game times were always updated in a timely fashion and the field as always game ready. Thanks again,

Jason Stadel
Severn Seminoles

Handling the rescheduling and maintaining the field after the storms, you guys deserve a lot of credit.  On behalf of 13U WHC, thank you and your staff for hosting and excellently running the tournament.  Keep it going.

Anthony Farnella

Chris/Marc, please pass on to all your coaches (including you) and volunteers that they did an outstanding job hosting the tournament. That was an absolute first-class operation.

David Corbin, RPR, CSR, CCR

Please pass on another job well done to all the folks in the EYO org for another great tournament.  We didn't do as well this year as last, but we had a great time.  Your parents, coaches, staff and facilities are all top notch.”

Thanks again for a great tournament.
